Rome Police Make Arrest After Burglary Investigation

On Thursday, January 11, 2018 Rome Police Officer David Salle began an investigation regarding a burglary complaint from the 1300 block of N. Madison St. While searching the area for clues and potential witnesses, Officer Salle observed a vehicle being operated by an individual that he knew to have a suspended driver license. He also recognized two other individuals that were passengers in the vehicle. He stopped the vehicle and observed property inside of the vehicle that matched the description of items stolen during the burglary. Detectives Jeff Lanigan and Michael DeMatteo then responded to the scene and led the subsequent investigation. As a result of that investigation, Gerald D. Allen, dob 12/24/1987 has been arrested and charged with one count of Burglary in the 3rd degree, a Class D Felony and one count of Criminal Possessionj of Stolen Property 4th, a Class E Felony.  He is being held pending arraignment in Rome City Court on Friday 01/12/2018.
