Officer Nicholas Schreppel named as Officer of the Month - July

The Rome Police Department is pleased to announce that Officer Nicholas Schreppel has been named the departments Officer of the Month for July. On July 8th, Officer Schreppel was working the day shift when he observed a suspect in a vehicle that was wanted regarding a larceny that had occurred in an adjoining jurisdiction. When he attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver refused to stop. Officer Schreppel calmly called for assistance as he advised that he was in a pursuit. Officer Schreppel maintained his composure and continued to pursue the suspect until the driver stopped. He was then able to take the suspect in to custody without further incident. The defendant was found to be in possession of several items of merchandise that were reported stolen during the incident that was being investigated by the Oneida County Sheriffs Office. The defendant was also wanted by the Madison County Sheriffs Office for crimes committed in that jurisdiction.

Officer Schreppels calm professionalism and attention to duty are worthy of this recognition.  He joined the department on July 15, 2015.
